    25 September 2017 @ 09:00 - WSD Tour: Ballindalloch Distillery

Location: The Whisky Shop Dufftown Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes Join us at the shop for a bus ride to Ballindalloch followed by a tour of the distillery and a special tasting.  In the company of Distillery Host, Brian Robinson, you will discover why the Macpherson-Grant family have chosen, after a break of several decades, to return to distilling . Each visit to Ballindalloch is tailored to their guests and, as they do not rush their whisky making, so they do not rush their tours. Focusing on what they do differently to the larger distilleries, you will get the opportunity to meet the team behind Scotland's first Single Estate Distillery. They craft their whisky with skill, traditional values, a long term view and without automation. This approach saw them win the Icons of Whisky Award for Craft Producer of the Year 2016. While they still have some time to wait before they are able to introduce you to their own whisky, they will share with you some drams bottled from the family's private casks of Cragganmore. Over 18's only please. Please ensure you have read our terms and conditions for events. Glenlivet Nadurra First Fill Selection FF0117

Glenlivet Nadurra first fill selection has been matured in first fill American white oak casks and bottled at cask strength in January 2017.  The casks have never before been used to mature Scotch whisky.  These are a popular choice of distillers at The Glenlivet since the early 1900's, they impart hints of creamy vanilla to the wonderful creamy whisky.

    Bunnahabhain Ceobanach Batch 3

This limited batch Bunnahabhain Ceobanach, pronounced kyaw-bin-och and meaning 'smoky mist' in Gaelic, began with a dream of Ian McMillan, the Master Distiller.  His desire was to reflect the 19th century origins of Bunnahabhain, both the place and the single malt's charming complex character.  Many years of careful monitoring have resulted in an un-chillfiltered single malt bursting with complex layers of natural flavour evocative of times long past: the lemon gold liquid has been matured in ex bourbon casks for over 10 years producing a rich sweet creamy oak maltiness on the palate complimenting the intensely peated fragrant smoke on the nose.

    Esker Gin

Esker Spirits who are  based in Royal Deeside say this 'Esker Gin is created in a traditional copper still with over a dozen responsibly sourced botanicals including rosehip, heather, milk thistle, cassia, pink peppercorn, citrus and silver birch sap tapped from the trees of Kincardine Estate. It is crisp, clean and juniper led.  It is a classic gin with its own distinctive notes including citrus and a hint of our floral botanicals. Our suggestion is that Esker gin is best served over ice with a tonic of your choice, then finished off with a twist of orange zest.
