The distillery say "Casado (Portuguese for marriage) is a limited-edition bottling which was matured in fresh bourbon barrels for 6 years before 38 casks were selected and married together for 2 years in two 6,000 litres Portuguese red wine vats. The red wine marriage gives the whisky layers of red fruit and spices which complement the vanilla and butterscotch influence of the bourbon barrels beautifully” It is 50ppm and only 12,900 bottles were produced.

It is a closely guarded secret which distillery the Finlaggan is from but it is certainly a cracking Islay whisky. The Vintage Malt Whisky Company tell us 'Many years ago, in a first for our company, we filled new make Finlaggan into Rioja Red Wine Hogsheads. Coming from the Rioja region within the Basque country of Spain, these Hogsheads have given our signature heavily peated Finlaggan an extra layer of rich mouth coating red berried fruits. The result is a truly mouthwatering sweet and smoky dram to savour.
