New Releases - Adelphi

This entry was posted in Blog, New Whisky Releases and Bottlings and tagged , , , , , , , on by .

We now have in the latest releases from Adelphi.  As usual they are bunch of crackers.  These include the whiskies featured in the Adelphi tasting during The Whisky Shop Dufftown Autumn Festival.

Unfortunately these whiskies were shipped without the usual tasting notes so where we can we have included our own (my) tasting notes.  These were taken during The Whisky Shop Dufftown Autumn festival and were really only for my use never to see the light of day so they are not up to our (my) usual standard and may have been influenced by The Gang on my table at the tasting.  They are included anyway.

Click on the name of each whisky to see more details.

Adelphi Linkwood 1990 24 Years Old

This is a sparkling Linkwood from a refill cask which allows so much character to come through.

Adelphi Linkwood 1990 24

Adelphi Bladnoch 1990 24 Years Old

Unfortunately we have not been able to taste this whisky but we are assured it is a  top notch bourbon cask Bladnoch.

Adelphi Longmorn 1992 22 Years Old

A real sophisticated and healthy breakfast bar buffet of flavours.  An exceptional Longmorn.

Adelphi Glenrothes 2007 7 Years Old

Do not focus on the age here.  For those that have had previous young Adelphi Glenrothes you will no why.  This is a full on sherry cask whisky.  It has real deep chocolate notes may be even rum and raisin ice cream.

Adelphi Glenrothes 2007 7

Adelphi Fascadale Batch 7 Highland Park 14 Years Old

This Adelphi describe this Highland Park as being a breather on the hill with lemon drizzle cake, Red Pippin apples, creamy highland fudge and peat bogs,  A little smoke to taste with lingering fresh apple skins.  For me it brought to mind lemon curd tarts on the palate and ashy mint imperials on the palate.  A cracking Highland Park.

Adelphi Ardmore 2000 14 Years Old

Lots of barley and nuts on this Ardmore and the consensus of The Gang was also Banana Nesquick and their knowledge of such things is unquestionable.

Adelphi Glen Garioach 1993 21 Years Old

Probably the star of the tasting at The Whisky Shop Dufftown Autumn Festival this is already fast selling out.  We have Adelphi's tasting note from this one so take a look.  I will just add the combined summary of The Gang which was chocolate ragu.  Trust me.  It's great.

We have a cracking new set of whiskies in from Adelphi ready for your Christmas Purchases

Adelphi Ardmore 2003 7 Years Old

This Adelphi Ardmore 2003 7 year old is quite a peated example of Ardmore. Certainly do not be put off by the age. Great whisky is great whisky. This is from a refill Bourbon hogshead. Although Adelphi have listed this as a Speyside, the SWA has Ardmore in the Highlands so that is how we have categorised it.

Adelphi Bowmore 1998 12 Years Old

This Adelphi Bowmore 1998 12 Years old is a fireworks party or a sea battle caught on the wind. This is all balance out with some nice sherry notes. Excellent. From a refill Sherry butt.

Adelphi Breath of Islay 1999 11 Years Old

This Adelphi Breath of Islay 1999 11 Years Old is one to warm you up in this harsh weather. From a refill Bourbon Hogshead.

Adelphi Breath of the Isles (Island) 1995 15 Years Old

This Adelphi Breath of the Islands 1995 15 Years Old is another one in the run from this unnamed Island distillery. It shows how the whisky from this distillery does age well and it has great depth and character. Refill Bourbon Hogshead.

Adelphi Bunnahabhain 1998 11 Years Old

This Adelphi Bunnahabhain 2998 11 Years Old is yet another stunning Bunnahabhain from Adelphi. This one has quite a lot of sherry behind being from a first fill sherry butt.

Adelphi Caol Ila 1982 28 Years Old

This Adelphi Caol Ila 1982 28 Years old is a well-aged Islay making it more subtle on the peat and has all the tropical fruits that you get from long maturation on bourbon casks. From a refill Bourbon Hogshead.

Adelphi Glen Garioch 1990 20 Years Old

This Adelphi Glen Garioch 1990 20 years old is described by Adelphi as a warming tea time dram with ginger cake - may be just the job after digging the car out of snow! From a refill bourbon hogshead.

Adelphi Longmorn 1992 18 Years Old

This Adelphi Longmorn 1992 18 Years Old to me is a classic Longmorn and one not to be missed. From a 1st fill Bourbon Hogshead.

There have been quite a few new bottlings for single malt whisky into the shop over the last week or two.

Kilchoman Spring Spring 2010 Release £45.95

The latest release from Kilchoman.  This one has been matured in a combination of fresh and refill bourbon barrels for 3 years then finished in 'very active' oloroso butts for 3 and a half months.

Kilchoman Spring 2010 Release

Three New Realease from Adelphi

Adelphi Bunnahabhain 1968 41 Years Old £137.95

From 2 European Oak Sherry Butts.  This is a fabulous old whisky. A real stunner.

Adelphi Longmorn 1992 17 Years Old £75.95

On the nose tomatoes, peaches. A background wisp of smoke. On the palate it is rich, creamy with treacle and toffee.  Probably the best Longmorn I've had.

Adelphi Macallan 1995 14 Years Old £69.95

A great cask strength Macallan from a refill sherry cask with Sweet. Malt. Madeira cake. Gariboldi biscuits. Raisins. Sun dried tomatoes.

See all Adelphi bottlings

And from Wemyss Vintage Malts

"Honey Smoke" Caol Ila 1996 £78.95

An acceptional Caol Ila.  Orange Muscat on fire.

"Spiced Apples" Benrinnes 1995 £46.95

A great Benrinnes from a refill sherry hgshead.  Probably my favourite of the bunch.  On both the nose and the palate there's just different layers of spice and apples.

"The Fruit Bowl" Glen Garioch 1989 £66.50

This does what it says and its all about fruit salad from a wooden bowl.

"Tropical Spice" Dalmore 1990 19 Years Old £71.95

This is the Wemyss bottling that so many are raving about. From a first fill sherry butt.  The nose is Brandy snaps and fig rolls.  The taste is chocolate cake in Cognac.

And for something different:

Darnley's View Gin £19.95

A fabulous gin from Wemyss.  The two main botanicals of Elderflower and citrus really standout producing a gin that already smells like gin and tonic.
