Misty Isle Gin is the only gin made on the Isle of Skye, by the Wilson brothers, Thomas and Alastair. All of the gin is made locally in Portree and the brothers say the bottle shape represents the elements if the Isle of Skye with each bottle being unique and different. They also tell us 'Our juniper berries are hand foraged from various wild locations around Skye. Our Juniper is then slowly distilled in traditional gas fired copper pot stills for approximately 8 hours, then vapour infused with our botanicals.'
For this special Christmas edition they use the standard 11 botanicals plus: juniper, cassia bark, orange, lemon, star anise, Tonia beans and a pinch of liquorice root are all soaked in the rich, Italian Amarone red wine prior to distilling.
Our Mulled Gin, therefore, has the same flavour profile as a delicious mulled wine combined with a generous juniper hit.
Recommend Serve: A Scottish tonic water , orange or cinnamon.
