This Adelphi Glenborrodale 8 Years Old is a blended malt Scotch whisky. Batch 1 is a limited release of 1226 bottles.
It is a vatting of whiskies that was made in 2001 in a refill ex-Sherry Butt. The composition is likely to have been Macallan, Highland Park, peated Bunnahabhain, Glenrothes and possibly Glengoyne. When Adelphi acquired the cask they did a bit of their alchemy and added a good splash (half a cask or so) of Glenrothes 8 Years Old first fill ex-Sherry. Why not?
|The WSD: Chocolate orange with a slight hint of smoke and Thornton's Fudge squares. (V)|
|Adelphi: Toffee fudge and brandy snaps, angelica root and orange peel. Willy Wonka's forest walk with bonbons, macaroons, strawberry shoelaces, chocolate earth and distant camp fires.
The WSD: Very sweet to start then BBQ ash creeps in. With water the sweetness intensifies and a spiciness appears.(V)
