Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers say this Old Perth "is from the finest sherry matured malt whiskies specially selected to honour the birthplace of blending. It is a blend of sherry matured single malts from the Glenlivet region of Speyside, some family owned and independent, some larger distilleries. The single malts used in this are up to 12 years of age. The casks are matured for the majority of their term at MSWD warehouses in Perth. The Vintage Malt Whisky Company tell us 'Many years ago, in a first for our company, we filled new make Finlaggan into Rioja Red Wine Hogsheads. Coming from the Rioja region within the Basque country of Spain, these Hogsheads have given our signature heavily peated Finlaggan an extra layer of rich mouth coating red berried fruits. The result is a truly mouthwatering sweet and smoky dram to savour.
It is a closely guarded secret which distillery the Finlaggan is from but it is certainly a cracking Islay whisky. This particular release is finished in sherry casks and only made in small batches.
