The distillery says "In the early 1970s, Benriach broke convention in Speyside by returning to distilling batches of whisky in the old, 19th century style, using malted barley smoked with Highland peat. This wood rich Highland peat imparts distinctly sweet and smoky notes into Benriach peated whiskies. Benriach The Smoky Ten has been crafted from a combination of unpeated and peated spirit and three cask matured for at least ten years in a combination of bourbon barrels, Jamaican rum casks and toasted virgin oak. The whisky is then expertly married together to create sublimely smooth layers of sunripe fruit, aromatic smoke and toasted oak spice, lingering into the perfectly balanced sweet and smoky finish"

Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers tell us 'This Glen Garioch 32 Years Old was acquired by Stanley P Morrison in 1970 at a time when the distillery had been mothballed. The 1988 Glen Garioch is typical of the style Glen Garioch were producing at the time when the traditional malting of peated barley was still in use at the distillery. The whisky has a beautifully balanced herbal character with ever so gentle peat smoke lingering in the background.'
It was distilled on 28th October 1988 from a bourbon barrel which produced 108 bottles and bottled on 28th August 2021.

This Pulteney was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2023 from a first fill Bourbon barrel which produced 1182 bottles. The barrels used are from Makers Mark which is made with soft red winter wheat, instead of traditional rye, to give a full flavoured bourbon that's easy to drink. The barrels are American oak, aged to taste rather than time and every barrel is rotated by hand for a smooth flavour. The Pulteney distillery prides itself on using these ex bourbon barrels air dried by the North Sea's salty atmosphere.
The Morrison family describe this as having "Gentle savoury maritime notes, a subtle salinity balanced with citrus and vanilla."
