This bottling of Caol Ila is Exclusive to The Whisky Shop Dufftown. It was distilled on 2 December 2004 and bottled on 4 April 2014 from a refill ex-Bourbon barrel which produced 210 bottles.
This is our Islay version of a'bunadh!
|WSD: An initial citrus blast gives way to icing sugar sweetness wrapped in freshly laundered wool blankets followed by menthol notes which develop into Iodine. A hospital laundry? The sweetness becomes smoked toffee and tarred ropes. Water summons up the Islay smoke.|
|WSD: Classic Caol Ila sweetness with biscuit and toffee. Hot smoke from the fire comes billowing through and some smoked chillies add depth. Water calms this beast somewhat and gives depth. It is feisty but not young on the palate.|
|WSD: The hot spicy smoke will not let go and you don't want it to as it comes through with layers of flapjacks. This is a dram to get any day started with a bang.|
