Created by George Grant personally from casks filled in the late 1960's this is a stunning addition to the Glenfarclas range.
A big dram but also quite refined. A dram for chilling out with.
Tasting Notes
| Nose |
| Distillery: Reminiscent of relaxing in an old leather armchair while eating walnuts and chocolate covered raisins.
The WSD: Cinnamon, leather bound books, icing sugar, polished shoes, white pepper, sherry butts, sack cloth and perfume. Stewed fruits (apples), subtle spices, honeysuckle and cooked rhubarb with dark chocolate and baked dark cherries all sprinkled with cracked pepper crisps. |
| Taste |
| Distillery: A sweet initial taste, orange segments dipped in liquid chocolate. Then a lovely flavour of burnt brown sugar at the back of the mouth.
The WSD: Powerful layers of wood, sherry, leather and dark chocolate. Warming essential oils of dark fruits, baked nectarines, top of a creme brulee and coconut with hints of spice and mahogany. |
| Finish |
| Distillery: The dry finish oozes big tannins and more rich dark cocoa beans. Let the whisky breathe a little or add a drop or two of water to fully open up the dram.
The WSD: Coffee beans and sherry wood. Sweet and drying. |
