    Kirkjuvagr Beyla Gin

In Norse mythology, Beyla was the goddess of bees with a strong connection to the earth. Kirkjuvagr say that 'At Orkney distilling we share her bond with the land growing our botanicals here in the island, where the influence of the Norse gods can still be felt. We've added Orcadian honey to our legendary Kirkjuvagr gin to create this special spirit in homage to the goddess. Fresh Scottish raspberries bring extra fruitiness and colour, while balancing the sweetness of our island honey.' Recommended serve: light indian tonic and plenty of fresh raspberries. 12 October 2019 from 16:00 to 21:30 - Cragganmore Distillery Tour and Tasting plus 4 Course Fine Dining at Cragganmore House

Location: The Whisky Shop Dufftown Start: 16:00   End: 21:30 Duration:  5 hours and 30 mins Cragganmore Distillery celebrates its 150th anniversary this year so we thought we would pay them a visit.  We invite you to join us at this iconic distillery for an exclusive distillery tour and tasting, followed by a four course meal at Cragganmore House. On arrival at Cragganmore, we will enjoy a cocktail while a member of the Cragganmore team takes us through the history of the distillery.  We will then have a private tour of the distillery followed by a tasting of Cragganmore 12 Years Old,  the Distillery Edition, the current Distillery Exclusive, one of the Cragganmore special releases, and a cask sample (duty paid). Next we move to the beautiful Cragganmore House that has been lovingly restored to its former glory.  Guests to Cragganmore House have an unrivalled opportunity to step back in time to a bygone era when it was the family home of John Smith, the founder of Cragganmore Distillery 150 years ago. John Smith was the foremost distiller of his time who in his career managed and ran The Macallan, The Glenlivet, and Glenfarclas distilleries, before founding Cragganmore Distillery in 1869.  John Smith was related to both the Glenlivet and the Glenfarclas families, and was a heavyweight both physically and in the impact he had on the whisky industry. We will start our visit with canapes in the drawing room of Cragganmore House before moving to the dining room for a sumptuous four course dinner created by resident award winning chef Tony Allcott. While at Cragganmore House you will have time to review the material that Tony and his wife Helen have collected on John Smith and his family.  All that, and if the weather is kind to us, we will take a stroll down to the river Spey - what better way to round off a truly special evening. Transport by bus to and from Cragganmore is included in the price. If you are a driver and wish to take part in this event, then we can provide you with sample bottles to take the whiskies away with you and enjoy at a more appropriate time.  Please email us at the address below that you require sample bottles after you have booked your ticket. We will depart from outside The Whisky Shop Dufftown to travel the to the Highlander Inn by bus where this event will be based.  We will start with a tasting in their dining room of 4 whiskies hosted by Morrison & MacKay.

Weather permitting we will then take a short walk to the Craigellachie beach for a further tasting of 2 more whiskies under the iconic Craigellachie Bridge which was designed by the renowned civil engineer Thomas Telford.  This will all take place with the backdrop of the autumnal colours of the trees lining the banks of the river Spey. We will then return to the Highlander Inn for a light lunch of soup and sandwiches.  You will also be able to take full advantage of the extensive selection of whiskies and other drinks available at the Highlander before we return to Dufftown. If you are a driver and wish to take part in this event, then we can provide you with sample bottles to take the whiskies away with you and enjoy at a more appropriate time.  Please email us at the address below that you require sample bottles after you have booked your ticket. Have you worked it out yet?  You get to try 5 18 Year Old whiskies which would be the equivalent of a double pub measure for less than the price of one.  What could be better? At the end of the festival during our closing event we will announce the winner.  We will also draw a voting slip at random and that person will win a bottle of their favourite whisky from the tasting. The winner of this year's competition will be pitted against 4 new challengers at next years festival as we continue our search for the best 18 Year Old.  We will make the selections from Distillery Own bottlings that are not limited releases. Glenturret Peated Edition Batch 3

The distillery say - "The Glenturret Peated Edition exclusively combines both our unpeated style of Glenturret spirit with our heavily peated style of spirit known as Ruadh Maor. This expression delivers definitive smoke and light spice aromas before developing into an array of maturing fruit and smouldering peat flavours on the palate. This edition is crafted in small batches at Scotland's Oldest Working Distillery with less than 60 casks hand selected to create this unique dram per batch. This exclusive bottling sublimely incorporates smokey and sweet together in a rare addition to our Glenturret range of Scotch whiskies."
