Aberfeldy 21 Years Old

Over the 21 Years that this Aberfeldy single malt has been lying in cask, it has grown ever more mellow, rich, fruity and honeyed.  This has not gone unnoticed by the Angels, who have by now helped themselves to about half of what was originally in each cask. What The WSD thinks:  Cottage garden spring flowers becoming more intense all the time. Tropical fruit essence on the palate with lashes of grapefruit, mango and banana.

Angels' Nectar Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

WSD February Featured Whisky:  The no-age-statement "independent" blend of malts market is a bit of a crowd sector.  Frankly, some of them are over priced.  It is depressing.  Then one comes along which is great to drink, is in a spectacular bottle and priced right.  That's more like it.  Whisky to drink!! Waxy potatoes, mocha and earthy orange segments on the nose.  The taste is diluted orange juice and strong dark chocolate.  Lavender.  Coffee shop in the garden. The WSD thinks: Soft fruits and candy sweets, perfumed white chocolate floral notes continue on the palate followed by a bitter bite (M). The Angels' Nectar Blended Malt Whisky is inspire by the angels' share - the whisky evaporation from casks during maturation.  It is a blend of Speyside and Highland malt whiskies. Bottled at natural colour it is described as having "a sweet nose of apple and fruit syrup, a taste of heather and honey and lemon, and a hint of spice on the finish". The label design is particularly striking and is a true work of art.

Brockmans Gin

The distillery say this is made using a unique blend of botanicals with subtle notes of berry giving an intensely smooth taste  to this beautifully made gin. Brockmans is Like No Other gin. It stands proudly alone from the many other types of gin due to the unique recipe of exquisite botanicals and the patient steeping distillation process. To make Brockmans, exquisite botanicals are sourced from all over the world. These include some typical ingredients such as angelica from Saxony, Bulgarian coriander and juniper berries from Tuscany. The more traditional notes of gin are combined with a refreshing influence of citrus and aromatic wild berry. This creates an intensely smooth gin with a beautifully crafted taste that is sensual and daringly different. The botanicals are blueberries, juniper, blackberries, cassia bark, liquorice, lemon peel, corriander, angelica, orange peel, almonds and orris.
